Uncle George’s Oil Paintings My father’s brother made homemade pharmaceuticals and drove around New England selling them. He was also an avid painter and stopped at scenic sites during his travels to record them. He was pretty good at his craft. This waterside painting from life gives clues to the era that he worked in. This painting was over the fireplace during my teen years. My dad loved to point out, much to his delight, the very wet and cold water and the chimney over the front door. George’s painting of the water in this work, is, in reality, among the best that I have ever seen.
